What
does MOAV stand for?
Mystic Order of Aquatic Vigilance.
(Well,
that's ONE anyway. ) Also
known as THE HIGHEST POWER IN THE DEEPEST WATER
but that didn't spell anything cool - so we stuck with
MOAV.
We at M.O.A.V.
have created this site for you the diver
regardless of your "classification". We
hope to have the most fun yet informative site on the web.
You
will find some very odd humor and a really good Links
section. We
have singled out a few of these links as being outstanding
people to deal with.

The
purpose for which this non-profit corporation is organized
are for scientific and educational, which includes, but
is not limited to the following:
a)
to promote conservation of the submerged cultural resources
of the world;
b)
to conduct research and development of new technologies
as applied to archeology, marine equipment, conservation
and preservation of artifacts, and underwater exploration
systems; and,
c)
to conduct global exploration, excavation, and research
of submerged and non-submerged:
1.) Shipwrecks,
2.) Maritime settlements
3.) Harbors
4.) Nautical Equipment
5.) Sites of historical significance
d)
To plan, organize, supervise, and conduct scientific investigations,
expeditions, surveys, and projects in support of Item C.
These projects shall utilize the use of geological, oceanographic,
geophysical, agrochemical, technical advisers, written and
verbal history records, and the latest available scientific
methods for the relocation of lost history.
e)
To establish a web site for the corporations library and
the publishing of the corporation’s research, films, and
expeditions reports. This site shall also be used
for information exchange on a global level with industry
professionals, corporations, colleges, universities, government
institutions, nautical institutes, and those seeking or
wishing to share views and find or to solicit help.
f)
To enter into agreements with and obtain permits from the
authorities of various nations and states for the discovery,
excavation, salvage, and restoration of shipwrecks, objects,
sites, and or items of historical significance to that state
or nation. This shall include any artifact or findings
related to the people, history, government, and or culture
on the land or water within the jurisdiction of such nation
or state.
g)
To provide a forum for individuals and organizations with
an interest in the history of man’s underwater exploits.
This includes all aspects of commercial, military, recreational,
scientific and experimental diving.
h)
To publish appropriate information covering all aspects
of diving history.
i)
To identify, preserve, protect and maintain artifacts and
archives associated with the history of diving.
j)
To organize meetings and rallies to foster a general awareness
of the importance of diving as a significant aspect of technological
endeavor.
k)
To provide a focal point for assistance in the maintenance
of antique and classic diving equipment.
l)
To solicit contributions and grants of money, property,
and services form the general public, government agencies,
educational institutions, and private and public businesses.
These contributions shall be used for the corporations purposes
and to use such contributions exclusively in furtherance
of the corporations purpose that falls within the scope
of proposes allowed under Section 501 (c) 3 of the Internal
Revenue Code.
